Knitting, knitting just keep knitting.......

I've been knitting A LOT! I've been working on a certain turtle mentioned here and here. I've been knitting socks for this crazyness. And here are the results of all this productivity:

Gift Knitting

I find I knit more for other people than for myself. Here are a few of the recent projects:

These are the Fetching gloves. I made them for my Aunt/piano teacher.

This was an impromptu knit. I was visiting at Frugalmom's and her youngest, G, ask me to knit him something. He requested a monster and a turtle. He's getting the turtle for his birthday.

I've been working on this since Monday of this week. It's a surprise for someone. I'll post again about it when it's finished.

A Confession of Sorts

So, if you are an artist craftier extraordinaire, you will understand this revelation. If you are not you may see this as excessive or a little crazy. But to the point..... most A.C.E.'s have a "stash" of whatever they craft/create with. Here's most of mine.



This is my yarn that sits right next to my love seat. I am not currently knitting with any of this yarn. It use to house my dishcloth cotton, but it was way too full. Then I started putting whatever I was working on in there, but since I tend to take my projects with me it ended up being an "in between" storage place for when I'm done with the project and haven't put the yarn away. I always leave this yarn tote/storage right there. Frugalmom gave it to me after her grandmother passed. I never got to meet this wonderful woman but knowing she was a knitter/crocheter like myself made me feel connected to her. So, I leave it there and use it and remember her and say a prayer for her family that I know misses her everyday.


These three clear totes hold all my dishcloth cotton. You may be thinking, "she has plenty", but I was just looking online two days ago. More, specifically at more natural looking colors. LOL
Um, also if you notice to the left of these three totes are more totes, ummmm that's all my stamping/card making stuff. :0)


This is the top of my XL Land's End tote. This tote is not stuffed full of yarn, yet ;0) It probably has 12-20 balls/skeins of yarn in it.


There are nine totes here. The three on the left hold all my dishcloth cotton. The orange tote currently holds misc., mostly non wool yarn. The four small totes on top hold all my wool yarn. They are Rubbermaid with natural cedar. I wish I would have bought more of these and larger ones when my local Walk Mart had them marked down. They are stuffed full.

Forgot about these: Llama lover mitts for frugalmom. These were from Interweave Knits Fall 2008. Super quick knit.

She's almost done and just in time for the new arrival. I need to finish her paws and she needs a ribbon for her sweater.

What I've been up to.

Most of these items have been knit in October. I don't like knitting that much in the warmer months, especially with wool.

Clothespin Apron

My DH recently put up my clothesline. I was getting tired of carrying my clothespins out in a ziploc bag. I didn't want to leave them out there on the line. Soooo, I made this clothespin apron. I found the pattern and instructions at Mother Earth News.

Grumpy Ol Bear

This is for Benjamin Boo, my sis's own grumpy ol bear. I haven't given it to him yet. Maybe this week I'll fit that in, somewhere.

Hurry Up Spring Armwarmers

Made these for my mom. It took me 4 days working on them on and off. Pattern is in the

Stitch 'n Bitch Nation book. I used Noro Kureyon #214, two size 8 circulars.

My first Socks!

I knit these two at a time on two circs, size 2 needles. I used Knitpicks Memories sock yarn, colorway- flowerpower. They pooled at the ankle, but that's okay I'm just glad I was able to finish them.

I'm still here

I've just been posting everything on Ravelry instead. Plus I'm still trying to get a few pictures of gifts I made but forgot to take pictures of. So, I'm going to do a quick update on everything I've made since Christmas of 2007.

Holiday Knitting

It almost always sneaks up on me. I think of things all year long but I don't usually start the actual knitting until October or November. And then.....Egads! I have so much to do. So, I'm working on stuff but I can't post actual items until after Christmas. So, see you after Christmas.

Cabled Headband

This started out as a hat gift, but I soon realised that it was going to be too big for the recipient. So, I decided it would be for me, then when I finished it not only was it too small for me but it probably would have only fit a three month old and the colors were all wrong for her. So, I started ripping. I ripped back to the last cable section and then just bound off. So, now it's a nice cabled headband for me. Here's where I found the pattern.

A new addiction?

I've found a new love! This is towel #1, I've now moved on to towel #3. I'm embroidering flour sack towels for someone. She doesn't know about this blog so I can post shamelessly. I'm loving this craft. What I love about all needlework crafts is that it really makes me feel connected to my ancestors. I'm doing something they did hundreds of years ago. I was so intimidated at the thought of even trying this but with help from here and here I found it to be so easy. I would say the only bad thing about it is it's not as easy to transport as my knitting is.

I made the cards in the top right corner, the bookmarks right below them and the dishrags/potholders in the middle. I did happen to take a close up of the bookmarks.

I have a few finished projects I can share now that they have been gifted.


First up is a birthday gift for my BF frugalmom. Its a backpack I knit. I used a pattern for the infamous booga bag and then just adapted it into a backpack. I felted it. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pics before the felting. I put stiff interfacing in the bottom to give it some form. I also lined it and put a pocket on the inside.
